Another night in Shah Jamal – Lahore, Pakistan
This video was filmed in Lahore, Pakistan in 2007 The sufi ceremonies in Lahore’s sufi shrine Shah Jamal were probably the most mind-blowing experiences in my life. Travel Tip: If you plan to visit Pakistan make sure you find your way to the shrine and don’t be afraid of this surreal celebration. It is OK for woman to enter the shrine but make sure you have your hair covered and don’t walk around without a male accompanying you unless you enjoy having one thousand hands all over your body. Be aware that drugs are very common among visitors of the shrine. Yet, one should not forget that this dhamaal ritual is not a rave party but a deeply spiritual celebration. The Sain Brothers had several times discontinued their performance because people forgot the reason for coming to the shrine. The performers in the shrine are AGAINST the use of drugs!! Also be aware that sometimes it can become a little bit rough – this is still Paksitan. Dedicated to: Baba Shah Jamal, the Sain Brothers and all the other devotees of Shah Jamal (Pakistan, 2007)
