During the time of economic down turn, everything has become expensive. You cannot think of getting anything for cheap. Traveling is not an exception. Many of us want to take a break from our busy schedules and enjoy a vacation in a tourist destination. But when we think of high airfares we drop the idea of traveling to far off places. However, the growing popularity to visit tourist destinations all over the world has led to a cut throat competition among the many airlines that offer cheap flight deals. Some of the following tips discussed below will help you to save your money and book a cheap flight.

Book Tickets in Advance

If you have thought to visit a tourist destination anywhere in the world, you have to book cheap flight tickets well in advance to get the best airfare deals. Many online travel services companies offer cheap flight deals if the journey is planned in at least twenty days before.

Go for a Round Trip

Almost all airlines offer cheap airfare on round trips. So you have to plan exactly how many days you want to spend in a tourist spot. In order to get cheap flight deals you have to book your return ticket at the time of first booking.

Conduct a Research

You have to conduct a research in the internet and find out which travel services company offers cheap airfare and cheap flight deals. There are many travel sites that claim to offer cheap flight deals. It is quite obvious that you may get perplexed and get confused of which site to count on. But if you read the reviews, blogs and compare the prices and other offer packs associated with cheap flight deals you will be in a position to choose best airfare deals.

Fly in Off Season

Many airlines offer cheap flight deals in an off season. If you plan a trip to visit a particular tourist destination, you can choose to fly at an off season. This will reduce your expenditure to 30%. You will be able to book a cheap flight in such off season.

Traveling at Odd Times

Many flights slash the prices at early morning or late nights. If you are ready to travel at odd times you can get cheap airfare tickets. The regular day flights are costlier than the odd time flights. Therefore, to get best airfare you can choose to fly at an odd time cheap flight.

Avail Special Offers

Online travel services companies offer special deals on certain days. You have to be vigilant enough to find out such deals. Make a thorough search in the internet and find out which company offers cheap airfare to book a cheap flight.

There is no golden rule for finding cheap flight deals. It is pure common sense. Airlines and travel services companies offer cheap airfare when there is less demand of cheap flight tickets or we can say when travelers travel less. The tips discussed may seem to be absurd as most of them suggest you to travel in an off season or at an odd time of the day. However, if you want to save your money on traveling, you must follow them.

CUBAN CUISINE

The traditional cuisine in Cuba is excellente and it would be a sin to get lost looking for other inetrnational plates, proposed in other local. The Cuban culinary art is born from the encounter of the precolumbian cuisine with the African, French, Spanish, English, and the Hindu and indonesa. The result of this is a miracle of the balance. There are fruits very often so as (mango, papaya, avocado,) mainly to accompany salted plates and to form part of the base of cocktails and drinks. It is used a lot the pig meat, lots of chicken, mainly in the inside of the country, while in the coastal restaurants are intend exquisite sea plates: fish, crustaceans cooked in several ways. The national plate is the “ajiaco” a soup with the help of potato, banana, corn, calf meat, Chicken, and dry meat. Another typical food is the “congri”, made with black beans and rice cooked all together , accompanied by “pig pork cracklings”. The “fufú” is on the other hand a banana puree seasoned with “mojo”, a fried lightly of oil garlic and cumin. Do not loose teh oportunity to taste the “Creole lobster” that is nothing else but a fried lobster with tomato, onions, peppers, spicy pepper and sour orange juice. Among the candies the “boniatillo”, made of sweet potato and sugar and the “coquito acaramelado” also “la mala rabia” also made of sweet potato sugra cane sirope, cinnamon and sweet orange shell. The diffused drink is the coffee, served to the American way, that is to say not few, and the rum is pure that serve as base to any prepared swig or the numerous cocktails so as Cuba Libre, the Rum punk or Piña Colada. Cuba also produces an excellent beer. The diffused national marks are the Mayabe and The Lagarto.

FUN/SHOPPING

Who doesn’t know the Cuban rum and tobacco, known for everyone as best in the world? In the island there are lots of opportunities to return home with some good music, revolutionary souvenir and why not an automobile of the fifty years.

Tobaccos

The tobaccos or cigarettes are of different sizes, they are sold loose or in elegant wooden boxes. Just to see them makes yoy buy them although you are not a smoker, maybe for a beautiful gift. The prices are almost half of the prices in Italy. For example a box with three Montecristo Sigars N.4 costs at about 10 American dollars. They can be bought in the stores. At Havana in the House of 5a and 16 (5a Ave y 16). In Santiago in Casa del Tabaco (Ave. Jesus Menéndez 730). Pay attention to the conservation of the tobacco. An adequate humidity is needed for them.

Craft

Cuban craft reflex the influence of diverse cultures, mainly the African. Many objects are related with the santería, the Afro-Cuban religion diffused per excellency in the island. There can be dolls of pieces and ceramic, masks made of paper maché and wooden sculptures. Puppets of tamarind seeds are also made. Pretty hats palm feathers fibers or of knitted coconut. Baskets and bags are also made. In old Havana there is the Craft Palace (Calle Cuba 64). In Santiago in the Craft House (Cathedral Plaza).

Foods

The rum is bought obligatorily and the most famous mark is The Havana Club in several versions: Liquor, the most economic; Carta Blanca 3 years and particularly used for the cocktails. Carta Oro, 5 years, and the most refined matured during 7 years. The precise goes from 4 to 7 American dollars each bottle. For adventurers the most valuable rum in Cuba is the retained Matusalem, product from Santiago de Cuba matured during 25 years, it can be around the 15 dollars the bottle in Casa del Ron de Obispo y Bernaza in Old Havana.

You’ve saved up for months to afford your skiing holiday, only when you arrive at your destination you find that you’ll be spending more time in the bar than on the slopes as the one vital ingredient, snow, has failed to materialise. With all the talk of global warming and temperature increases, can you be certain your travel insurance will pay out if you don’t get the white stuff, or will you be left feeling extremely piste off?

Unusual weather conditions in the mountains can result in lift closures through avalanches, high winds or no snow.

In order to maximise your chances of good skiing conditions you should ideally check the snow reports and forecasts for your chosen destination and then book late.

If the worst comes to the worst and you do end up without snow, make sure you have the best chance of receiving compensation by purchasing the right holiday insurance before you go. Around one in seven skiers do not have any travel insurance and according to research by price comparison website moneysupermarket.com, sixteen percent of skiers do not have specialist winter sports cover, which was described as being “almost as bad as no insurance at all”.

The usual insurance payout for piste closure claims is £20 or £30 per person, per day but you will get wide variations on how piste closure is defined.

Many insurers including American express, Boots and Churchill, deem the resort to be open if at least one lift is running. Resort managers will usually do everything in their power to keep one lift going as it increases their number of “days open” and helps business.

Other insurers such as Direct Travel and Flexicover Direct take a fairer view and will pay out if 80% or more of the lifts are shut.

A good tip is to use the travel insurance tool at moneysupermarket.com to compare over 500 cheap travel insurance deals. Be sure to carefully read the small print of any policy before you buy, to find out how the insurance company define piste closure.

It is estimated that Britons will make more than 70m trips abroad this year, a great deal of which are likely to be underinsured if insured at all. Whether you are planning a year long backpacking adventure around Asia or a weekend break in Paris, adequate travel insurance is a must. First and foremost you should have a policy that covers any medical expenses that you may incur abroad. Following this you should get cover for your luggage, possessions and money. Having insurance provides you with a safety net should anything go wrong, what it will not do is prevent any problems; this is entirely in your own hands. How protective and vigilant you will have to be will of course depend highly on where you are and the nature of your holiday. Ensuring you take the following procedures, no matter where you are holidaying, should help keep your possessions safe. Chances are the most important thing you will take with you on any trip outside of the UK is your passport, for this reason it should always be kept safe and about your person. It’s always a good idea to keep a photocopy of the photo page back at your accommodation or in your luggage. Anything of sentimental or monetary value that is not essential should be left at home; otherwise it should not be flashed about or left unattended. Cash is one of the easiest things for thieves to steal and one of the hardest for you to recover, as many insurance policies do not cover it. For this reason special care of it should be taken when out an about. Firstly, don’t store all your cash in one place, not even in one pocket; if you are mugged or pick pocketed all will be lost. If you are travelling with luggage for long journeys, as is often the case with backpackers, then it’s important to try and keep a close eye on your belongings when they are not on you. Avoid stowing backpacks on overhead racks or under seats and on buses try to get a seat near to where you bag was stored. There is a large variety of security options and locks on the market, but for the most part a simple sturdy padlock should be enough to deter thieves. As mentioned having adequate travel insurance cover will help recoup any losses experienced abroad, so holiday insurance is highly recommended. Regardless of what your journey will entail it is easy enough to find cheap travel insurance with countless policies on offer.

Disabled holidaymakers have been advised to check their travel insurance to make sure it covers key areas. Brian Seaman, head of consultancy at Tourism for All, said individuals with a disability should ensure they have enough medication with them to last the trip and to check any accommodation they plan to stay in has sufficient facilities to cover their needs. He noted: “You may need to ask a few questions about the facilities; even if it says it is accessible you should find out whether it meets your particular needs.” New European legislation is coming into force from July this year that means airports will now be responsible for meeting the needs of disabled travellers as approximately two million disabled passengers use UK airports each year.Furthermore, a recent survey carried out by Leonard Cheshire Disability found that 37 per cent of disabled passengers have experienced negative attitudes from airport staff and those onboard flights. In other news, charity for the elderly, Age Concern, has reported that the inability to find cheap travel insurance for pensioners has been called “ageism” by one newspaper columnist. Writing earlier this month in the Guardian, Jackie Ashley called on the government to tackle the problem of prejudice against the elderly.Ms Ashley cited the opinion of one Age Concern campaigner on the issue of travel insurance for pensioners, saying: “The effect of insurance companies refusing even to give a quote to elderly people is like walking along the high street and finding eight out of ten shops with a sign reading ‘no old people here’.”Rather than searching for travel insurance, another article in the Guardian has revealed that many British pensioners may soon be “exploiting a tax loophole” by transferring their retirement pots abroad. Retiring overseas rather than simply holidaying there could cost the UK taxpayer hundreds of millions of pounds as wealthy pensioners escape paying British tax rates.Age Concern is the banner title used by a number of charitable organisations (NGOs) specifically concerned with the needs and interests of all older people – those over the age of 50 – based chiefly in the United Kingdom. In addition to providing practical support to individuals, Age Concern campaigns on issues such as age discrimination and pensions, and works to influence public opinion and government policy about older people.Numerous Age Concern organisations have been established throughout the UK, working at national and local levels. At the national level, four Age Concern organisations cover England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Local Age Concerns vary from small village groups to countywide organisations. In England, over 370 of the individual charities are members of a national federation. Although each is a separate registered charity working under the Age Concern banner, the federation allows members to collaborate at local, regional and national levels, to share resources, expertise and influenceAge Concern’s origins are British and can be traced back to a realisation in that country of the effects on aged people of the second world war; the dislocation and breakdown of family life arising out of conscription led to a recognition that existing poor laws failed to provide effective support for old people separated from family support networks. In 1940, the Old People’s Welfare Committee (OPWC), chaired by Eleanor Rathbone, was formed as a forum for discussion between government and voluntary organisations. OPWC was a sub-committee of Liverpool Personal Service Society (PSS). In 1944, the committee changed its name to the National Old People’s Welfare Committee (NOPWC), and took on responsibility for coordinating the activities of numerous local OPWCs.

Sport and activity holidays are hugely popular nowadays, as people look to practice their skills in a new environment or even learn an entirely new sport as part of their holiday. Many sports and activities, like skydiving and scuba diving, can be much cheaper to do abroad than in the UK. But despite all the dangers associated with extreme sports, insurance for dangerous activities abroad usually isn’t researched as carefully as it should be. Many people assume that their cheap travel insurance covers any and every sport or activity that they may decide to try while on holiday. This is not so – you have to read the small print!
The sports and activities covered by your insurance will vary from policy to policy, but specialised sports travel insurance will undoubtedly be necessary to cover the higher risk activities. For these more dangerous activities, you are likely to face higher costs for the insurance itself and larger premiums if you do make a claim. For many of the riskier activities, Personal Accident and Personal Liability cover is not included.
Every sports travel insurance provider will have a different way of grading various activities; I’ve always split sports into two main categories…
Moderate Risk
Moderate risk activities include many common sports, such as basketball, football, baseball, squash, tennis and cricket. It also includes activities like mountain biking, amateur marathon running, cycling and low altitude trekking.
High Risk
Obviously enough, this kind of sports insurance covers activities that present a much higher risk of injury. This includes contact sports like American Football and Rugby, as well as horse riding, motorcycling, bungee jumping, kite surfing, and other risky activities.
Be aware that activities may change categories depending on the conditions. For example, inland kayaking is often classed as moderate risk, whereas coastal kayaking can be considered high risk. Many sports insurance policies will only cover scuba diving down to a certain depth, for example, or trekking up to a certain altitude. Even if your activity of choice is mentioned in your insurance, make sure you double check the details of what you are doing to be certain that you will be covered.
Of course, there are plenty of activities that companies like mine won’t cover at all. For very high risk sports and activities, such as BASE jumping or high altitude mountaineering, you’ll have contact a specialist insurance provider to sort you out with some extreme sports insurance! Additionally, any normal sports travel insurance policy isn’t likely to cover the playing of professional sports or competitions – you’ll need to contact a specialist in order to be covered for these kinds of activities. Amateur level is covered by most standard insurers, but if you intend to compete you’ll need something a little more comprehensive.
Whatever sport or activity you intend to try while on holiday, the best thing to do is to talk to make sure you talk to your travel insurance company to be certain of getting the right kind of sports insurance. It’ll only take a few minutes of your time, and could save you a lot of money in the long run. Uninsured sporting accidents abroad will probably hurt your wallet even more than they hurt you!

Most people after an illness want a holiday to help them recuperate. Depending on the nature of the illness, this could work out expensive. So what do you do if you want a cheap travel insurance policy after an illness?

It may be tempting to lie and just not tell the insurer about the illness. While this will indeed get you cheaper cover, you’ll effectively be buying invalid insurance as any claims you need to make will get rejected when it’s discovered that you failed to disclose important medical information. Even if you know it will raise the price of your premiums it’s always recommended to tell the underwriters everything about your current and past health to make sure any claims you have to make will be successful.

With a pre-existing or recurring condition such as heart disease, most insurers offer an exclusion option – meaning that you’ll be covered except for things relating to the excluded condition. This is a bit of a gamble but it’s an honest way of reducing your premiums.

Some insurers specifically cover certain conditions such as cancer. It may be worth looking for specialist insurance like this as you can be sure of a suitable policy and more chance of a successful claim. Alternatively, you can choose to get full cover from a regular insurer and pay a higher premium. This may be an option if you only go on holiday sporadically as it could otherwise work out expensive.

Be aware that if you wish to travel to the US or Canada, your premiums will automatically be higher as medical treatments in these countries are more expensive. Your premiums could be doubled so if you’re worried about this it may be worth rethinking your destination.

Of course, travel insurance isn’t just for illness and accidents. Any good annual travel insurance policy will cover for loss of baggage and cancellations. Compare travel insurance online to find the best prices, but remember; you get what you pay for!
