Chicago Bears vs San Diego Chargers 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions – Point-Spreads.com
Chicago Bears vs San Diego Chargers 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions: The Chargers and Bears take the field tonight for their first sampling of 2010 NFL preseason action. The two squads are set to kick things off at 9:00pm ET at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. 2010 NFL Preseason Picks, Odds & Predictions at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com have the Bolts listed as a -2.5 against the spread home favorite; this evening’s game total is presently set at 33.
San Diego begins its preseason schedule as a four time defending AFC West champion, and, if all goes according to plan
and prognostication, the team will garner its fifth consecutive title this year. While the Chargers did undergo some changes this offseason, they still look like the team to beat in what has become the NFL’s weakest division.
On the field this evening will be some of the team’s new talent, which includes top draft pick, Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews. Mathews will take over LaDainian Tomlinson’s role in the backfield, and many are expecting him to be a significant upgrade over the future Hall of Famer, who averaged just 3.3 yards per carry in 2009.
Mathews’ development during the preseason and regular season will certainly be something to keep an eye as the team makes the shift to a more balanced offensive attack (31st in rushing last year at 89 yards per game). Number one wide receiver Vincent Jackson, who is suspended the first three games of the season, has yet to come to terms with the club and is threatening to sit out the season.
Chicago not only has a new coordinator in offensive guru Mike Martz, the team also has a new playmaker on the defensive side of the ball in Julius Peppers. Martz, who is attempting to overhaul an offense that ranked 23rd in yards and 19th in points per game a season ago, will need plenty of preseason time to get on the same page with the interception prone Jay Cutler.
Cutler indicated earlier in the week that given the nature of Martz pass happy system, there would still be plenty of picks in the offing. Bears fans can probably live with that if the former Commodore does like most quarterbacks have under Martz, which is throw far more touchdowns than interceptions.
2010 NFL Preseason Betting Trend: The Over is 5-0 in the Bears last five preseason openers.
