Chicago Park District Celebrating 10th Anniversary with More Free Films
125 Parks Involved
Here in Illinois, in our big city of Chicago, it is a fun day. It is important to take a day off from mosques, killers and politics. The Chicago Park District is spreading fun through 125 neighborhood parks for itsĀ 10th Anniversary. The Chicago Park District is showing free movies. What better way to give kids something to do and families a way to enjoy some leisure time and have fun?
News Provider has posted an article titled “Chicago Park District: Movies in the Park Schedule.” In the posting, they give the schedule of the movies.
Have I ever been to one of these showings? The answer is yes, and I found that the behavior was good. People don’t come to make trouble; there is an aura of family, and I think it is in part at least because of the effort of the Chicago Park District.
What I love about these movies is that they start at dusk. It reminds me of when I was a little boy going to the drive-in with my parents. We would play on sliding boards and swings at the front of the theater.
The Chicago Park District, according to the article, suggests that you bring “a chair, juice, blanket and snack.”
The schedule is given for the next three days, starting today, Aug. 16. The overall schedule goes to Sept. 10. Among the movies being shown over the next couple of days are “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure,” “Sherlock Holmes,” and “Twilight: New Moon.” I have linked to the article for exact sites and movies.
I think this is the best kind of news. Today, when my son goes to a movie, it can cost up to .00. Furthermore, if he wants a snack or drink, it is ridiculous what they charge. Of course he cannot take his own food and drink into the theater.
The Chicago Park District has found a way to give kids an alternative to “doing nothing” and has given the family a chance to have some fun nights out for free or very little money.
I have found there are smaller towns with film fests that are free or very cheap. You should always explore; your local paper is always a good resource.
