Jackie Warner Talks Working It Out Again On Bravo’s “Thintervention” – AHN | All Headline News
Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Jackie Warner first showed off her eight-pack abs on Bravo’s “Work Out,” which hit the ground running in 2006 and went on for three seasons. Now, the reality star, gym owner, and personal trainer is getting a lot more personal on her new show, ‘Thintervention with Jackie Warner.”
While “Work Out” focused mostly on Warner running her business and her personal relationships with now-former girlfriends and staff, “Thintervention” instead focuses on eight overweight clients who are looking for some big changes. Among them, a stand-up comedian, an independent film producer, and even one of the original cast members of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”
Of course, “Thintervention” is going to be compared to other shows where belly fat burning is the main focus. But this is no “Biggest Loser.” There are no balance beams over water or food temptation challenges.
“This isn’t a weight loss show, it’s a life-changing show. This is not a contest show,” Warner told AHN. “The viewer gets to get in deep psychologically and really get to know these people. That’s why we narrowed it down to 8 people going on this journey because we really wanted to go know them and have that emotional exchange.”
On “Thintervention,” Warner pays as much attention to the physical as the metaphysical, and balances working out with working through their personal issues. The real hurdles come in applying the regimen proposed by Warner and her team to help change their lives and in turn, their look.
While other shows focus on staged, game show-like challenges, the physical aspects of “Thintervention” take place in locations the home viewer can relate to, at gyms or in backyards or on a mountain for a hike. Also, group therapy sessions are held to aid in the change process.
Warner brings the pages of her book “This Is Why You’re Fat” to the screen, offering the contestants her nutritional expertise, condensed workout routines, and life-changing advice. “Here are the tools, here is the guidance, here is the workout program, now do it. That’s the challenge,” Warner says.
Also, the weigh-in experience isn’t marred by ominous music, skeptical looking judges, and larger-than-life scales. Instead, the weigh-ins feature the kind of positive reinforcements usually reserved for, well, what you don’t see on television.
“This is a life-affirming show, it’s a positive show and it’s not only about the goal of weight loss,” Warner said. “People are dealing with different issues and working to improve their lives. Even if there’s a weigh-in that wasn’t what it should have been, there may have been an emotional breakthrough that outweighs that. There is no failure in this show.”
But will viewers tune in to see a weight-loss show where there is no “Biggest Loser”? Only time will tell, but Warner has rock-hard confidence that she’ll find an audience of people wanting to have their own “Thintervention.”
“It’s not about getting six-pack abs,” Warner says. “I want their life to be happier and more productive and have a better quality of living. I want people to follow along and say ‘I can do this. I can make that change.’”
“Thintervention with Jackie Warner” airs Mondays on Bravo at 10pm ET/PT.
