Wrightwood, home to Mountain High Ski Resort, is a great skiing, snowboarding or California day trip. Veronica Hill of California Travel Tips explains more about this mountain getaway. If you’re ready to hit the slopes and go snowboarding, check out Mountain High. It serves up three separate parks, including one specifically for innertubing. Get there early for tickets, as parking can be a nightmare. And make sure to carry chains during winter storms. If you’d rather just play in the snow, there are plenty of hills for tubing and sledding. Don’t forget to buy your Forest Adventure Pass at Jensen’s or Mountain Hardware for $5, or you may get a ticket. Plan your visit around the annual Parade of Lights, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Locals dress up their cars, bikes and golf carts with twinkling lights and holiday music as they hit Park Avenue in their winter best. During the summer, locals cool off at Twin Lakes, where families enjoy swimming, picnicking and live music. Camping is popular at Table Mountain, which hosts a vintage trailer rally in September. Don’t be surprised to spot some native wildlife, such as the gray squirrel, competing for your leftovers. Don’t miss the quaint Snow White Cottage, tucked behind the large oaks and pines at 1581 Twin Lakes. This is private property, but tourists are certainly invited to take pictures.
